While I do not miss sharing the water bowl and attention of my owner with that hairy boy, I do miss all the playing, tugging, and victory that I was able to obtain from him in his stay here. I commend him on his patience with the little one, and hope we can age together in the sunset somewhere, eating raw meat and sipping savory liquids while recounting the tales of our youth.

"International dog of leisure" is quite possibly the most apt title ever bestowed on Maltsby, but it is important to note that it is fleeting leisure because the memories are so painfully short.

I must admit that I have been to the confession booth numerous times in an attempt to absolve myself of my treatment of the OL's in Osaka. Facing enormous language and rage obstacles, they performed their job with amazing calm and resourcefulness. I only hope that they are off-duty on any return visit to their airport for I fear a recognition by them that might result in long-term detention and subsequent manners training. I dare say that if that incident happened Stateside, I might have been spending the night with Maltsby in quarantine of a much more unsavory manner.

I miss him sometimes and his blissful ignorance. The reunion of canines and humans is a day I look forward to with much anticipation.

Does Maitsby have a passport now?

Charlie tolerated my kids at first, but by now I think she's secretly very attached. I am her #1, and feel a bit guilty because I'm not a really great mommy to her these days.

Remember when we were 15 and watched "Sybil"? That thought crossed my mind when I read the first 2 comments above. Don't know why...

I often wonder if Malts is dumb, or if he is so smart that he doesnt have care for silly things like loyalty. What place does loyalty have in survival? Why should he protect you when he can much more easily have YOU protect HIM? Oh Malts...
